Mica Cardozo
Mica and his wife Pat have been an integral part of our community for 31 years, and epitomize altruism. Both have served Woodbridge in many capacities: Pat, as a former member of the Amity Board of Education for twelve years, holding the positions of Vice Chair, and Chair of the Personnel and Facilities Committees and former member of the Library Commission; Mica, prior to becoming First Selectman, as Deputy First Selectman and as a member or liaison of the Fire, Police, Agriculture, Economic Development, and Recreation Commissions; all while raising two daughters who are products of the Woodbridge and Amity school systems.
In 2023, the residents of Woodbridge overwhelmingly elected Mica Cardozo as First Selectman because of his determination to move Woodbridge forward, and Mica has delivered. Under Mica’s leadership, substantial progress on many initiatives in town have been made, and through collaborative efforts, community engagement, and a balanced approach, a foundation that will ensure that Woodbridge thrives has been built. Highlights of Mica’s progress include:
Working collaboratively with our local businesses, EDC, 2030 Committee, state officials, and CT Main Street to lay the groundwork to revitalize our Business District, attract and maintain businesses, and diversify our tax base, in conjunction with an $8M the Woodbridge Business District Connectivity Project Grant; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KReS1ZlBiZA
Proactively engaging and vetting all options presented by residents on the future of the CCW property, resulting in a master plan that incorporates perspectives of all stakeholders by balancing both conservation and development while adding to our tax base; https://www.woodbridgect.org/566/CCW-Master-Plan
Actively pursuing a comprehensive Beecher Road School infrastructure plan that addresses the structural state of the building and plans for growth projections in connection with the Beecher Road School feasibility study; https://www.woodbridgect.org/DocumentCenter/View/6895/2025-02-12-Woodbridge-Tri-Board-Meeting
Identifying and securing non-traditional revenue sources such as the recent solar farm land lease on the landfill at the Transfer Station that will generate a new revenue stream for the Town while adding to sustainable and clean energy; https://www.woodbridgect.org/667/Approved-Solar-Lease-At-Transfer-Station
Enhancing the Town Center with sidewalks to ensure the safety of all residents including students that commute on foot; dark sky lighting without adding to light pollution; completion of the WVFD Storage and Training Facility originally part of the new firehouse construction; and the renovation of the Old Firehouse into the Community and Cultural Center, slated to be completed by the end of the year. https://www.woodbridgect.org/569/Woodbridge-Center-Sidewalks-Maps?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExclRIYUhJdlpzQk13MHY2MwEe3P6saUwI28n_jL1mYf_G4z17JEd6xStc5grxby2tJZnkjB2qVYM_NTJf3Qo_aem_8-xlyIgB4z1gM4dUN1TQrg;
Growing a cohesive community through collaboration with events such as 06525 Day, which brought together our businesses, organizations, and residents for a day celebrating all that is special about Woodbridge, and by actions reflected within the ever expanding “All the Little Things: Everyday Wins in Woodbridge,” accomplishment list. https://www.woodbridgect.org/DocumentCenter/View/6913/The-Little-Things.
Mica Cardozo and the Democratic Team serve our Town effectively because they listen to everyone, collaborate with anyone, and take decisive action to benefit our entire community. During his first term, Mica and the Democratic Team have developed an action plan that will enhance our Town and increase and diversify revenue all while keeping our natural beauty and small town feel. Mica is deeply grateful for the opportunity that was given to him to serve as First Selectman, and would be honored to receive your support in his re-election so he may continue delivering for our future.
