ABOUT US
The Woodbridge Democratic Town Committee (WDTC) is the local Democratic Party organization in Woodbridge, CT. We are proud Woodbridge residents working to improve our town, our state, and our country through community engagement and political involvement at every level - especially here in our beautiful town of Woodbridge.
The WDTC strives to build a stronger, more welcoming Woodbridge by assisting local Democrats and issue-aligned neighbors who want to run for office or serve as appointed members on Town Boards and Commissions. We specifically recruit and support Democratic Party candidates for election to local and state office, while also working to help elect Democratic candidates at the federal level.
In addition to campaign efforts, we connect our community to resources that help residents understand important local developments and issues. In our work, we cooperate and coordinate with the Connecticut Democratic Party and, where appropriate, the National Democratic Party.
We hold regularly scheduled meetings once each month. Democratic Party candidates for local office are nominated by the WDTC.
HOW TO JOIN
The WDTC, in accordance with our Rules, is made up of 75 voters enrolled as Democrats in the Town of Woodbridge. Members are elected to two-year terms and are active participants in party-building activities, local campaigns, and community engagement.
There are two main ways to be part of our work:
Members: Elected members vote on endorsements, help shape WDTC priorities, and participate in official decisions. When vacancies occur, we invite applications from local Democrats, conduct interviews through our Nominating Committee, and bring recommendations to the full Committee for a vote.
Friends of WDTC: Friends are community members who volunteer, help with events, and support campaigns without holding an elected member seat. This is an excellent way to get involved while waiting for an opening or deciding if membership is the right fit.
The best way to start is to attend monthly meetings, join our events, and volunteer for our activities. This not only benefits the community - it positions you for greater involvement when opportunities arise. If you’re ready to make a difference, contact us today.
MEETINGS
The WDTC meets regularly on the second Tuesday of the month. All Town Committee members will receive meeting dates, times, and agendas by email.
Woodbridge residents who share our commitment to democratic values and support our Democratic candidates but are not current members of the Town Committee are welcome to attend our meetings.
If you would like more information about attending our meetings, please email communications@woodbridgedems.org.
