Congratulations to Woodbridge Democratic Slate of Candidates!

Congratulations to Mica Cardozo and the Democratic slate of candidates, all of whom won their seats in Tuesday’s election!

Turnout for voting was just over 60% of eligible voters, including robust early voting, to elect the Democratic Team:

  • First Selectman: Mica Cardozo

  • Board of Selectmen: Lauren Francese, Maria Madonick, Steve Munno

  • Board of Education (Woodbridge): Mike Strambler, Saurabh Vilekar, Meghan Conaster

  • Regional Board of Education (Amity): Carol Oladele, Donna Schuster

  • Board of Assessment Appeals: Shelley Kier

  • Zoning Board of Appeals: Hank Nusbaum, Nigel Light

  • Zoning Board of Appeals (Alternates): Maurice Clarke, Jim Horwitz

This election serves a a reminder to all of us that every vote counts. While the Democratic margins of victory were high in many of the races,  the First Selectman race came down to just 8 votes. You can see the results here:

This Monday, November 10, starting at 9:30 AM and estimated to continue for several hours, there will be a recanvass of the First Selectman votes, triggered by the close numbers.  The public is invited to attend and observe the process.

Thank You to Our Election Workers!

Election Day this year was, as always, a celebration of our democracy. Our Registrars, Moderators and other Poll Workers, Town Clerk and Town Clerk staff demonstrated their commitment to a smooth, secure, and accessible election. Their service is a model of what nonpartisan public service looks like at its best!

The Bottom Line: Never Doubt that Your Vote Counts

Whether you’re a longtime resident or a first-time voter, this election is an example of how local government is only as strong as the people who participate in it. Thank you to everyone who turned out and made your voice heard.
