PROMISES MADE

PROMISES DELIVERED

In less than two years as First Selectman, Mica Cardozo has led Woodbridge out of years of gridlock and into a new era of real, measurable progress.
From major infrastructure investments to long-overdue community projects, his leadership has been defined by collaboration, persistence, and results.

Real Planning.

Real Progress.

Real Results.

The CCW Master Plan:

Since 2009, the 155-acre Country Club of Woodbridge sat as an open question: what should it become?

Under Mica’s leadership, the Town finally answered.

The CCW Master Plan was built through one of the most extensive public engagement efforts in town history — more than 1,300 surveys, focus groups, interviews, and open houses, to create a shared, responsible vision for the property’s future.

The plan preserves over 110 acres of open space while introducing carefully scaled areas for housing, recreation, agriculture, and small business, generating up to $1.9 million in new tax revenue to help ease the burden on homeowners.

Woodbridge also secured a $50,000 Brownfield Grant to assess and prepare the property for next steps — the first real progress on this land in over a decade.

Conservation Success: 1875 Litchfield Turnpike

When 28 acres next to West Rock State Park went up for sale, Mica saw an opportunity to preserve it, without costing Woodbridge taxpayers a dime.

After months of persistence, coordination, and advocacy with the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the State agreed to purchase the property for conservation.

This means 28 acres of new open space will remain protected for generations, achieved entirely through relationship-building and creative problem-solving.

and Pedestrian Safety Project

Town Center Sidewalks

Thanks to a CTDOT Community Connectivity Grant, Mica led the completion of the Town Center Sidewalk and Pedestrian Safety Project, enhancing walkability around Amity High School and the Town Green.

The project added new sidewalks, crosswalks, dark-sky-compliant lighting, and seasonal banners, improving safety and creating a more welcoming, accessible center for events like Earth Day, Woodbridge Like Me Day, the Summer Concert Series, and Movies on the Green.

Business District Revitalization:

Building the Foundation for Future Growth

For years, Woodbridge’s commercial district was overlooked, with limited sidewalks, poor connectivity, and little infrastructure to attract or support new businesses. That’s changing.

Under Mica’s leadership, Woodbridge secured over $8 million in state funding for the Business District Connectivity and Main Street Project — the largest infrastructure investment in our Town’s history.

The project is transforming the business corridor with new sidewalks, improved lighting, safer pedestrian crossings, and stronger links between local shops, schools, and neighborhoods. These upgrades don’t just make the area more walkable — they make it more livable and investable, creating the conditions for new small businesses and long-term tax relief.

“We can’t cut our way to lower taxes. we have to grow responsibly. That starts by making it easier for businesses to thrive right here in Woodbridge.” — Mica Cardozo

This project represents the kind of strategic investment that balances quality of life, environmental stewardship, and economic growth. That’s exactly the kind of leadership Woodbridge deserves.

Beecher Road School: Planning for Today and Tomorrow

Beecher Road School has long been one of Woodbridge’s greatest strengths and a source of pride and a cornerstone of our community. But as enrollment and needs have evolved, so too has the demand for modern space and infrastructure.

Under Mica’s leadership, the Town initiated the Beecher Infrastructure and Space Needs Project, a comprehensive, forward-looking assessment of facilities and programming.

This initiative isn’t about temporary fixes. It’s about ensuring Beecher can continue to deliver the excellence families expect, while preparing for future growth and changing student needs.

Mica worked closely with educators, parents, engineers, and finance officials to evaluate the school’s space requirements and prioritize investments in safety, efficiency, and learning environments. All while maintaining fiscal discipline and transparency.

“We can’t afford to wait for problems to become crises. Planning ahead is how we protect both our students and our taxpayers.” — Mica Cardozo

The Beecher plan represents exactly what this administration stands for: responsible foresight, collaborative problem-solving, and a deep commitment to the next generation.

Community and Cultural Center: Bringing Woodbridge Together

After 15 years of sitting idle, the former Old Firehouse in the Town Center is finally being transformed into the new Woodbridge Community & Cultural Center — a vibrant hub for residents of all ages.

Set to open in 2026, the new center will include a community welcome space, coffee bar, event rooms, outdoor patio, and more.

This project succeeded because of Mica’s persistence in aligning multiple moving parts: securing $2 million in state funding, completing the long-delayed Fire Department storage facility (“The Shed”), and coordinating design and construction to bring a long-promised community asset to life.

“Projects don’t just appear on your desk. They happen when you understand how the pieces fit, build trust, and follow through.” - Mica Cardozo
