Incumbent Board of Selectmen candidate Steve Munno serves as the Executive Director of Massaro Community Farm. Throughout Steve’s 16 years of leadership, the farm has contributed significantly to the community and environment by: cultivating certified organic produce; donating produce to health and human service agencies throughout Greater New Haven; offering on-farm educational programs for youth and adults; and recently becoming a Certified Wildlife Habitat and a Certified Firefly Habitat. In 2019, Steve was named Connecticut’s OutstandingYoung Farmer by the CT Agricultural Information Council, and this year was awarded the 2025 Norma O’ Leary Award for Excellence in Agricultural Innovation from CT Resource Conservation & Development, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in advancing climate smart practices.
Steve is a graduate of Wesleyan University, received a Certificate in Ecological Horticulture from University of California at Santa Cruz, a Certificate in Climate Change and Health from the Yale School of Public Health and is currently working toward a Master of Environmental Policy at Vermont Law & Graduate School.
Prior to Massaro, Steve worked in environmental education and farmed in both Massachusetts and California. Steve is a co-founding member of the New CT Farmer Alliance, and serves on the board of the CT Chapter of the Northeast Organic Farming Association. He served on the Woodbridge Agricultural Commission and was elected to the Woodbridge Board of Selectmen in 2023, where he currently serves as Deputy First Selectman and Chair of the Ordinance Sub-Committee. Steve recently procured the CTDOT Active Transportation Microgrant, which is funding free bicycle education classes currently being offered in Woodbridge.
Steve is married to a similarly dedicated farm-based educator, and they are proud parents of two Beecher Road School students. During Steve’s tenure on the Board of Selectman, he has consistently demonstrated an unwavering dedication and commitment to our community. Steve would be honored to serve a second term and continue working toward the enhancement of Woodbridge for the benefit of all residents.
